Updated: Mar 16, 2023

Montgomery, TX, March 15th 2023

Texas based Rocker, Matt "Renner" will be releasing two new songs in March, one titled "Shed My Skin" and the other "Colorblind".

Recorded between LFT Studios in Nashville and Red Tree Studios in Magnolia TX, Renner will release the songs to all major streaming services, starting with Shed My Skin on March 16 and Colorblind on March 23rd.

"Shed My Skin" is an introspective song about change and having the guts to do find out who you really are. "Time to shed my skin / don't recognize myself / who am I within / where do I begin / breaking down these walls / so I can let you in / and try to love again / time to shed my skin."

In a modern throwback to rock of the past, Guitarist Chris Condon (Top Nashville session player / Billy Ray Cirrus) delivers Soaring Guitars and a head turning solo, drummer

Miles McPherson (Kelly Clarkson, Paramore, Tonic) checks in with blistering drums and notable session bassist Jacob Lowery (Michael McDonald, Amy Grant and many others) contributes strong, steady low notes. Renner delivers gritty, cutting vocals that uplift despite the heavy topic. "Shed My Skin" is Renner's first studio single and serves as his first real introduction to the music industry.

The other song, "Colorblind" dives into a darker, deeply personal side of Renner, one that explores what happens when someone loses their faith and who they are and realizes how it's affecting their relationships, to the point where they are on the verge of losing it all. Condon again, delivers a tour deforce on the guitars while Drummer Wes Little (Jo Dee Messina, Billy Dean and many others) and Bassist Steve Mackie, hold down a steady and undeniably familiar, driving beat, reminiscent of early The Color and the Shape vibes. Renner, very much playing the part of a young Dave Grohl delivers perhaps his strongest lyrical and vocal performance. "Did I lose my faith / did my saving grace / run out of it / oh i forget / did I always know / your true colors showed / oh nevermind / I'm colorblind /.

Renner ends Colorblind with an intense release, driving home the energetic and emotional record.

Both songs were written by Renner and produced and Mixed at Red Tree Studios in Magnolia TX by Jeffery Armstreet (Hayden Coffman, Jon Finney, and many others), an incredible producer and mixing engineer who is starting to emerge as a bonafied hitmaker.

"I'm incredibly proud of these songs, they show the next step in my musical journey. I grew up listening to everything from Hard Rock to Country, Hip Hop to Pop, I think all of these musical influences show in my music and writing style. I hope these songs connect with people. I think it's time good Rock music makes a comeback. Hopefully I can contribute in some small way to the movement," said Renner.
